Porter-Gaud is an Episcopal, co-educational day school serving more than 1,000 students in grades 1-12. The O'Quinn Schools of Porter-Gaud serve an additional 600 preschool students from age two through kindergarten.

The O'Quinn Schools are seeking a highly motivated, nurturing, and collaborative Lead Kindergarten Teacher to join our Mount Pleasant campus for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and will create a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of young learners.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a warm, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes children's social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual development
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with school expectations
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, development, and behavior
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment
  • Follow DSS regulations and school policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school initiatives and professional development opportunities

Position Details

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: 3535 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education preferred
  • At least one year of experience working with young children in an early childhood setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families
