Day Shift Team Leader - Services
Porter-Gaud School is an Episcopal, independent, coeducational day school with 1,650 students in preschool through 12th grade.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Facilities for Services and works closely with other Facilities employees. This is a 12-month, full-time non-exempt position with benefits including health insurance, paid leave, school-provided lunch, and availability of 403(b) retirement plan.
Duties include working with and leading a team of day shift custodians to accomplish the tasks assigned and to provide support for events when requested or scheduled. Other duties may include counseling and training day shift employees.
Flexibility is essential. This position will/may be required to work when the School is closed which may include holidays, weekends and extended hours in summer. Availability to attend events at any/all of the three Porter-Gaud/O'Quinn campuses, during both regular and off work hours is required.
Specific Duties include:
● Serves as the backup for the Assistant Director of Facilities-Services, as needed.
● Assists in maintaining the supplies and equipment for the Facilities-Services team.
● Assists in maintaining the sustainability programs for the Facilities-Services team.
● Works with and oversees assigned team members in completing work orders and event
setups.
● Coordinates with other School personnel in determining best support for recurring
events.
● Provides feedback to Assistant Director of Facilities-Services with annual performance
evaluations of day shift personnel.
● Delegates tasks efficiently based on team strengths
● Compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
● Compliance with all department rules, as specified in the Employee Handbook.
● Other duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Facilities-Services and/or Director of
Facilities.
Required skills:
● Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas, both orally
and in writing.
● Motivates team members and maintains morale even during tough shifts.
● Positive attitude and willingness to follow directions.
● Ability to clearly communicate expectations, schedules, and procedures.
● Experience in coaching, supervising and/or mentoring employees (preferred).
Minimum Job Qualifications:
● 4+ years experience in a K-12 educational setting /commercial cleaning /hospitality/
health industry.
● High School Diploma preferred, but not required.
Physical requirements:
● Frequently lifting 5-10 pounds, occasionally lifting 25 pounds.
● Continuously demands vision, hearing, fine motor skills, and speaking. Frequently
sitting, standing, walking and carrying. Occasionally bending, lifting, crouching and
climbing.
● Work is performed mostly indoors with occasional outdoor work with exposure to heat,
humidity, and cold.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
